2023 in review

Food Shelf visits have hit a record high in our communities. Minnesotans made 5,505,100 visits to food shelves in 2022, nearly 2 million more visits than in 2021. The state average is an estimated 35% increase in visits to Food Shelves year over year and the Walker Area Food Shelf is seeing more than a 75% increase in virtually every metric from the number of new families that register for assistance to the food we have to purchase to meet the growing needs of the community.

Friends, families, and neighbors across the state are being forced to choose between doctor visits, medications, bills, gas… or food. We aren’t here to get political or speculate – we are here to serve.

Everyone needs help at some point. Be the kindness you want to see in the world.
